Our ChargeAs the latter days get more latter, and prophecy is more fully fulfilled, I believe strongly that the members of this church will possess a recognizable goodness and virtue that will attract others to rally around a modern-day "Title of Liberty." It will be up to faithful Latter-day Saints to issue the call to save the Constitution at that point when it hangs by a thread, (as prophesied by Joseph Smith). In the current political season we are witnesses to the threat of radical Islamic fascism, coupled with internal moral decay that has brought us to a point where the Constitution gets ever nearer to that condition foretold by brother Joseph. Our Title of Liberty (Latter-day Politics for Latter-day Saints) was written to help members fulfill the scriptural charge to "befriend the Constitution" , also the charge issued by latter-day prophets to get involved in the political process by supporting righteous candidates and political causes. Our Title of Liberty examines the parallels between scriptural and political history so that today's political conditions can be judged using Gospel principles preached by prophets both ancient and modern. Our Title of Liberty starts with the politics of the war in heaven, discusses spiritual stands on political issues, party affiliation, media bias, and the role of America in fulfilling religious prophecy. Our Title of Liberty relies heavily on scripture, as well as statements from the general authorities of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, mostly from the pulpit at General Conference. |
